Public Notice on Application for Inclusion in the “Panel of Arbitrators” of the WTC Macau Arbitration Center
In alignment with the national policy direction and the Macao SAR Government’s initiatives for the development of arbitration in Macau, and with a view to further enhancing the professionalism and quality of arbitration services, the WTC Macau Arbitration Center (the “Center”) hereby invites applications for inclusion in its new term of the “Panel of Arbitrators” through an open application process. The relevant requirements and arrangements are set out below:
I. The Panel of Arbitrators operates on a term basis. Each term shall be three years.
II. Arbitrators included in the Panel shall:
1. Complete, during their term of appointment, activities that fulfil the minimum Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit requirements prescribed by the Center (please refer to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme for Arbitrators);
2. Comply with the Internal Regulations of WTCMAC (effective 1 July 2024), as well as other applicable internal rules and regulations of the Center.
III. Eligibility Criteria for Application
Applicants for inclusion in the Panel must meet the following requirements:
1. Possess at least five years of practical experience in arbitration and have acted as arbitrator in no fewer than five cases, having issued arbitral awards;
2. Possess at least five years of professional or technical working experience in a relevant field;
3. Be capable of using Chinese, English, or Portuguese as a working language;
4. Undertake to comply with all rules and regulations of the WTC Macau Arbitration Center;
5. Have no criminal conviction for intentional offences and no record of disciplinary sanctions due to reputational misconduct or breach of professional ethics;
6. Be able to ensure adequate time commitment for arbitration cases and conclude proceedings within the prescribed time limits.
* Applicants may request a waiver of either or both requirements set out in Items 1 and 2 above. Such requests must be supported by relevant documentary evidence, particularly regarding the applicant’s recognition and standing in arbitration or related professional fields, professional achievements, arbitration‑related academic publications, or inclusion on the panels of other arbitration institutions in other countries/regions.
* In the event of any dispute, the Center reserves the right of final decision and may, where necessary, invite individuals with specific qualifications (such as nationality, place of residence, language proficiency, or professional expertise) to join the Panel.
IV. Application Procedure
1. Application Method
Applicants must complete the online application form and submit the required supporting documents by 31 July 2026 (Online application), or download the Application Form for Panel of Arbitrators, complete it, and submit the form together with all required documents by email to: info@mac.org.mo.
2. Important Notes
1) The Center will not issue separate notifications to unsuccessful applicants.
2) Applicants must ensure that all information provided is true and accurate. Any false declaration will result in disqualification, and the Center reserves the right to pursue legal action where appropriate.
