Application Instructions
Applicants for inclusion in the Panel must meet the following requirements:
1. Possess at least five years of practical experience in arbitration and have acted as arbitrator in no fewer than five cases, having issued arbitral awards;
2. Possess at least five years of professional or technical working experience in a relevant field;
3. Be capable of using Chinese, English, or Portuguese as a working language;
4. Undertake to comply with all rules and regulations of the WTC Macau Arbitration Center;
5. Have no criminal conviction for intentional offences and no record of disciplinary sanctions due to reputational misconduct or breach of professional ethics;
6. Be able to ensure adequate time commitment for arbitration cases and conclude proceedings within the prescribed time limits.
Applicants may request a waiver of either or both requirements set out in Items 1 and 2 above. Such requests must be supported by relevant documentary evidence, particularly regarding the applicant’s recognition and standing in arbitration or related professional fields, professional achievements, arbitration‑related academic publications, or inclusion on the panels of other arbitration institutions in other countries/regions.

Personal Information Collection Statement

This declaration aims to clarify the collection and processing of personal data by the World Trade Center Macau Arbitration Center (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) during the open application for arbitrators.

 

1.      Purpose of data collecting and processing

  • Qualification review of arbitrators and related administrative procedures.
  • Management and publication of the panel of arbitrators.
  • Communication and notification of arbitrators.
  • Appointment of arbitrators in arbitration cases, as well as training and continuing professional development management.

 

2.      Categories of data subject

  • Applicants seeking inclusion in the panel of arbitrators of the Center.

 

3.      Categories of personal data

For the above purpose, this Center may collect and process the following categories of personal data. The collection of some categories of data may be necessary, while that of the others may be based on the voluntary provision of the data subject. Please contact this Center for any enquiry.

  • Identification data: name, date of birth, gender, nationality, types, number and copy of the identification document, address, telephone number, e-mail address, occupation, photo.
  • Professional background data: academic qualification, work experience, professional qualification, arbitration training, arbitration experience, arbitrator qualification in other institutions and relevant supporting documents.

 

4.      Arrangement for data disclosure

  • The information provided, including name, nationality, occupation, academic qualification, work experience, professional qualification, arbitration training and arbitration experience (excluding sensitive personal data), may be published on the Center’s website for public access.

 

5.      Rights of the data subject

   Applicants are legally entitled to access, rectify, or request the deletion of their personal data.

 

Remarks: If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between the Chinese version and the version in any other languages, the Chinese version shall prevail.
