Arbitration and conciliation are still relatively new issues in Macau. In order to increase public awareness, particularly the awareness within the local business communities, “WTC Macau Arbitration Center” has been actively promoting arbitration and conciliation since its establishment. In the years 2007 and 2008, a series of seminars namely “Resolving Conflicts with Arbitration and Mediation” were conducted, introducing their advantages as an alternative dispute resolution that enhances negotiation with the spirit of fairness as well as stimulation and incitement of communication between the dispute parties. Local business associations that attended these seminars include: “The Macau Chinese Enterprises Association”, “Industrial Association of Macau”, “Macau Importers and Exporters Association”, “Association of Knitting & Spinning Industry of Macau”, “Macau Shipper’s Association”, “Association of Macao Tourist Agents”, “Macau Hoteliers & Innkeepers Association”, “The Macao Chamber of Commerce”, “Macau Air Freight Forwarding (Logistics) Association”, “Macau Shipping Association” and “The Macau Association of Banks”.
