On 5 November 2025, the 10th Greater China Arbitration Forum was held in Chengdu. As one of the founding members of the Forum, the World Trade Center Macau Arbitration Center (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) was represented by its Secretary-General, Ms. Vong Sok Hei, Rosita. Organised by the Chengdu Arbitration Commission, the Forum attracted nearly 200 representatives from arbitration institutions, law firms, enterprises, and universities across the Greater China region.

This year’s Forum focused on the revision of the Arbitration Law in Mainland China, the judicial support and supervisory mechanisms under the new legislation, and innovative trends in arbitration systems in the era of artificial intelligence.

The amended Arbitration Law explicitly calls for the enhancement of talent development in foreign-related arbitration and the alignment of China's arbitration regime with international standards. As such, the training and support of cross-border arbitration professionals has become a key concern within the industry. During the experience-sharing session, Secretary-General Vong shared insights from the perspective of arbitral institutions on how new arbitrators can build professional visibility. She noted that the expertise and integrity of arbitrators not only impact the quality of individual cases, but also directly affect the credibility and public confidence in arbitral institutions.

Ms. Vong emphasised that institutions should leverage their own platforms and resources to provide new arbitrators with opportunities to participate in cases and showcase their capabilities. This support helps emerging arbitrators gain experience, build trust, and gradually enhance their professional recognition within the industry.

Looking ahead, the Center will continue to leverage Macao’s unique position as the “Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” to deepen institutional integration and talent development, thereby contributing to the internationalisation and long-term growth of Macao’s arbitration sector.
