On 13 February 2025, a delegation from the World Trade Center Macau Arbitration Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Arbitration Center”), led by Executive Committee Chairman Mr. Jackson Tsui, Vice Chairman Mr. Chiu Chan Cheong, Secretary-General Ms. Vong Sok Hei, and Office Director Ms. Li YingXin, visited the Public Assets Supervision and Planning Office (hereinafter referred to as the “GPASP”). The delegation was received by GPASP Director Ms. Chan Hoi Fan and Deputy Director Mr. Liu Chi Hon, with whom they held in-depth discussions.
During the meeting, Chairman Mr. Jackson Tsui introduced the recent developments and future plans of the Arbitration Center. With the strong support of the Macao SAR Government, the Center’s arbitration and mediation services have advanced steadily. In response to the implementation of the “Necessary Arbitration of Disputes Relating to Water Infiltration In Buildings” the Center has actively promoted related arbitration services. Building on years of experience in this domain, the Center is also committed to expanding its interregional and international arbitration and mediation work and has already signed multiple cooperation agreements with both mainland and international arbitration institutions. Mr. Chui expressed hope for continued support from the SAR Government in this regard.
Director Ms. Chan Hoi Fan expressed her agreement with the role of the Arbitration Center in alleviating pressure on the judiciary and reducing social conflict. She encouraged the Center to enhance public awareness of its services, accurately assess market demand, and leverage its professional strengths to formulate pragmatic development strategies. She affirmed that such efforts would contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Macao’s arbitration sector.
Both parties also exchanged views on enhancing internal governance effectiveness and optimizing the use of resources. The meeting concluded with positive outcomes and mutual understanding on future cooperation.
