The WTC Macau Arbitration Center held the fourth "Greater China Arbitration Forum" on September 15 & 16, 2011 at Lotus Room, 5th floor of WTC building. The forum was officiated by the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Dra Florinda Chan, the President of WTC Macau Arbitration Center, Mr. Vitor Ng, the Past President of Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, Mr. Russell Coleman S.C. and the Chairman of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre & Immediate Past President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, Mr. Huen Wong JP.
President of the General Council of WTC Macau Arbitration Center Mr Vitor Ng pointed out that, "the development of arbitration system in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, has surpassed Macau by means of theory, promotion and operation." He added that the organization of the 4th "Greater China Arbitration Forum" provides a good opportunity for Macau practitioners to share the experience and the latest development of the arbitration and mediation systems in the Greater China Region.
This biennial Forum, providing a platform for experts and delegates from arbitration & conciliation organizations in the Greater China Region to enhance mutual communication and share experience, is to be hosted by each member organization in turns. The previous three conferences were held in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taiwan respectively. The "4th Greater China Arbitration Forum", which has included for the 1st time the mediation system in the official program, had more than 120 participants, among which over 50 delegates and experts from arbitration and conciliation organizations of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the remaining participants from local government bodies, business organizations as well as arbitrators and conciliators of WTC Macau Arbitration Center.
