As one of the founding members of the Greater China Arbitration Forum (GCAF), WTC Macau Arbitration Center Vice-President Mr. Alberto Marçal and Secretary General Mr. Ivan Fong participated in the 3rd GCAF held in Taipei on 28 August 2009. The GCAF aimed at strengthening the cooperation and exchange of the Arbitration Institutes within the regions, improving the arbitration levels and arbitration promotion within the Greater China.

Taking into consideration the current global financial crisis, this biannual forum highlighted the discussion on “Opportunity and Strategy of Arbitration Work in Financial Tsunami”. Delegates from Shanghai, Wuhan, Shenzhen and Xi’an Arbitration Commissions, HK International Arbitration Center, WTC Macau Arbitration Center and Chinese Arbitration Association Taipei shared their insights and opinions on this title of discussion as well as other topics, such as the 2008 Arbitration Work Report of the member institutes of the Greater China Arbitration Forum, qualification and persistent training of arbitrators, etc. The Secretary General Mr. Ivan Fong has explained Macau’s aspect on the ‘Development of Arbitration of Cross-Strait Four Regions’ on behalf of WTC Macau Arbitration Center.
