Since the handover of Macao and China’s entry in the World Trade Organization (WTO), trade between the two regions has been opening up at the speed of lightning. To take these new opportunities and to strengthen the cooperation with the Mainland to reap mutual benefit, the “WTC Macau Arbitration Center” and “China Chamber of International Commerce Conciliation Centre (CCOIC)” signed a protocol for the establishment of a joint conciliation center for resolving potential commercial disputes in an amicable way.
In addition, the “WTC Macau Arbitration Center” also signed an agreement on legal consultancy service with “China Council for the Promotion of International Trade / China Chamber of International Commerce CCPIT/CCOIC Legal Affairs Department” aiming to provide Macao’s enterprises legal consultation, particularly on the rules and laws related to trade, investment and tax collection in Mainland China in order to solve potential legal problems and overcome commercial difficulties they may come across when doing business in Mainland China.
The Cooperation Agreement of “CCOIC/WTCM Conciliation Centre” and the "Legal Services Consultation" were signed on December 16, 2002, and the Secretary for Economy and Finance Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen, President Mr. Liu Wenjie and Vice-President Mr. Vitor Ng of “CCOIC/WTCM Conciliation Centre” attended the signing ceremony.
